Joseph Dill of Egg Harbor Township was arrested on Wednesday, Mar. 6 on an outstanding warrant for unlawful possession of a weapon, the township's police department said in a Monday, Mar. 11 news release. His arrest stems from an incident on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023.

Egg Harbor Township police responded to a home on Tremont Avenue after a woman reported that a man was breaking her porch lights and trying to break in by kicking the house's front door. She also said the man left her property and started firing a gun from a home across the street.

Officers and Atlantic County SWAT team members made contact with the man who was identified as Dill. After a roughly 12-hour standoff, Dill left his home and was arrested.

No one was injured in the standoff. Tremont Avenue, Bates Avenue, and other nearby streets were shut down during the incident.

Several guns were seized from Dill's home as part of a court order. He was charged with attempted burglary, criminal mischief, and harassment.

Dill was held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on a separate outstanding warrant. He was released later that week.

Another warrant was issued for Dill for unlawful possession of a weapon related to the standoff. An additional search warrant was authorized to seize more guns that Dill was believed to have had on his property.

Dill was arrested and the search warrant was executed on Wednesday, Mar. 6. More guns and ammunition were found, and Dill was given additional charges for not surrendering the weapons and ammunition back in November 2023.

Dill was held again in the Atlantic County jail.
